Google to Phase Out Five Products including Google Mini, iGoogle

The biggest and most famous Internet giant company Google has announced that they will be closing their five products namely iGoogle, Google Video, Google Chatback, Google mini and Symbian search App. These changes has been announced by giving the reason of giving more attention to streamline products. They have told the media out in a conference that they will be slowly stop their support and then remove them by the end of 2013. Here is the official words:

“…last fall we started a spring clean, and since then we’ve closed or combined more than 30 products. Today we’re announcing a few more closures,” Google Global Enterprise Search General Manager Matt Eichner said on the company’s blog post.

They also said that it is really easy to launch a new product but it is too difficult to decide about their closure. However, all these decisions have been taken after a deep analysis and implication. iGoogle, their solution for personalised homepage is yet used by many users but due to the advent of android based tablets and other hand-held devices, it has lost its essence. iGoogle will be winded up on November 1, 2013.

Google mini was their solution for small and medium scale businesses for setting up search engine which allowed them to index and search upto 300,000 documents. It will come to an end on July 01. The reason given behind their closure is that they have already been replaced by Google Search Appliance and Google Commerce which are far superior to it.

Same is the case with Google Videos. The uploading facility from Google videos was stopped back in 2009 itself. And, now it is said that all the videos will be transferred to Youtube.
I am really happy with the decision of closing them and with this, According to me Orkut could be the next one with all users sent to Google Plus. What do you think?
